Enterprise, investigative and special projects

I did a concentration on investigative journalism when pursuing my bachelor's degree, and I spent half of my student journalist career focusing on special projects. I've done research, fact-checking, reporting, writing, illustrating and editing.

I reported, wrote, edited and led this long enterprise project on the history of desegregation at the University of Maryland. We spent two semesters looking into digitized issues of The Diamondback, collections from the University Archives, court decisions, university reports and federal legislation. We talked to former Black student leaders and athletes, former university presidents and Black workers.

I was a reporter, content editor and illustrator for this project on disabilities, accessibilities and accomodations at the University of Maryland. I wrote a story about faculty and staff's experiences with accomodations, edited several stories for content and mentored the project editor.

As an assistant special projects editor, I coordinated with artists outside of The Diamondback to provide illustrations for our "Behind The Demands" project. Following the police killing of George Floyd in 2020, a group of Black undergraduate and graduate students sent a series of demands to the university. We wrote and reported on each of the demands - 31 in total - and had an art that represented it. Besides writing, reporting and project managing, I contributed with 10 illustrations.
